Tim Murrett (August 6, 1949 - February 16, 2011)

 

 

 

 

 

Timothy O. Murrett of Buffalo, leader of the field team that documented the Larkin Building before its redevelopment, died Wednesday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst. He was 61.

 

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute  and Canisius College.

 

Mr. Murrett returned to St. Joseph's in 1974 to teach economics and business until 1977, when he moved to Ohio to work for Picker International, a manufacturer of radiological equipment.

 

While working with Picker, Mr. Murrett traveled around the world selling medical imaging systems to customers in Europe, Asia, South America and throughout North America. In 2005, he returned to Buffalo and joined Architectural Resources, where he led the field team that documented the then-vacant, 600,000-square-foot Larkin Building in preparation for its comprehensive redevelopment as Larkin at Exchange. He retired in 2010.

 

Mr. Murrett's family described him as an expert with crossword puzzles who also authored puzzles, including two that were published in the New York Times, one on the Marx Brothers and one on state capitals.

 

He is survived by a son, Christopher; a daughter, Colleen; three brothers, Robert, Paul and Kevin; a sister, Mary Lynn; and his ex-wife, Maureen Murman.
