September 13, 2022 From Joe's daughter, Tara Hample -
He was a professor, a camping enthusiast, a chef, an author, a healer of kid/grandkid boo-boos, a card player, a star-gazer, a teller of tales, a baseball player, a philosopher, a world traveler, a kids sport analyst, and most importantly he was my Dad. He didn’t let his battle with MS bring him down. He never complained, he taught me bravery, perseverance, compassion for others, true strength, work ethic, and that family is everything. He continued working to better himself (with the exception of his refusal to shave his mustache). His life lessons are invaluable and he will be missed and loved every single day.
From Classmates:
Too many, too fast
RIP Joe
Joe and I share the same birthday. It makes us all feel very vulnerable. Joe was the president of our HOA when I moved in eight years ago. He will be surely missed by not only the SJCI community but also our local community here in Collingwood. RIP old friend
What a nice guy! So sad. He will be missed.
Joe was a nice guy who will be sadly missed by all of us. Rest in Peace and condolences to his family.
Sad indeed. RIP Joe
St.Margaret’s class of ‘63. St.Joe’s class of ‘67. RIP my friend.
Joe was the first guy I met when I transferred to St Margaret’s in 7th grade. He was an interesting soul. We all have our stories of each other. Those memories bind us together and I pray God to protect us all in our later years.
Joe had a very engaging smile that he let escape from his Fu Manchu, and revealed his inner warmth ... he was what we saw ... we had some chats about HOAs and about teaching - I Iearned from his insights ... great guy, fun to be around!
So Sorry to see another classmate pass into the next life. He suffered much with his MS. May he finally rest in peace.
RIP Joe! Another great classmate and friend gone way too soon .
RIP Joe!!
