Dave Tubolino
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Samuel Tubolino, who peacefully left our world on November 9, 2024, in Royal Oak, Michigan, at the age of 75. Born on September 13, 1949, in Buffalo, New York, to his loving parents Samuel Tubolino and Jesse Wise.
Dave attended Stella Niagara Military Academy in Lewiston, NY, and graduated from St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute in Kenmore, NY. He was a proud graduate of Canisius University in Buffalo, NY. While living in Michigan, he became an admissions ambassador for Canisius, assisting students in entering college life.
Dave continued his passion for education by tutoring students for many years in Macomb from around the world (including Japan, Romania, and the Middle East) in learning English as a second language; many of the students he taught became lifelong friends.
He was a successful businessman in the insurance industry, having lived in several states in the North and the East; he found a lasting home with Amerisure Corporation in Michigan. He was an avid reader and enjoyed getting lost in the pages of a good book. He enjoyed his stays with his wife in Traverse City for over 20 years. Dave found solace in the serenity of the countryside Up North, cherishing moments with his family and friends.
Dave enjoyed cooking; some of his recipes have been written into the "family recipe book" that each new bride is given as a welcome to the family gift. His most famous was his own version of Olive salad; everyone knew at the holidays a jar of his secret salad would appear at the family dinner table.
After retiring, he put his love of cooking into practical use. He volunteered at McCrest for many years, becoming famously known for his bacon heavy breakfasts. Dave also delivered for Meals on Wheels and Homebound until he was no longer physically able to.
Cherished husband to Karen; loving father to Eric (Tam) Tubolino and Brian (An Zhang) Tubolino; treasured brother to Barbara (late Anthony) Dubreville and Donna (Reed) London; proud grandfather to Ada Tubolino and Cara Tubolino.
David Tubolino's legacy of love and laughter will forever remain in our hearts.
May he rest in peace.
From Classmates:
My sincere condolences to you Karen and family. We are all sorry for your loss. May Dave rest in peace.
I knew Dave very well and was enjoying our friendship during our school years. Unfortunately, we were not in touch all these years. So sorry to learn this tragic news.
My deepest condolences and prayers to you, Karen, and your family and friend's.
Karen, My sincerest condolences to you and your sons.
So sorry for your loss, Karen.
Rest in peace, dear David.
Dave lived in Michigan but he and I connected by phone a few times over the last several years.
Although he couldn't make it to our get-togethers, I believe he still enjoyed keeping up with our class activites through our emails.
Such a lovely note ... thanks for giving us some insight into Dave's last moments ... and truly " ... it was time for God to bring him home." Amen!
From Karen:
I am so glad you found the notice! I am truly amazed since we are in Michigan.
Tom, what you said was true. Dave followed all your get togethers and mourned for those who were no longer with us.
He had many health issues over the past 20 years, but always fought through them. This time he was just too weak. After a week in ICU, I and our sons decided to cease extreme measures. Instead of the predicted 2 days in hospice he passed away peacefully in 2 hours.
I miss him tremendously but I know it was time for God to bring him home.
RIP Dave!!
